Summer Reading Programs

I'm following up on the Summer Fun theme by finally posting about the Summer Reading Program links I've been collecting. Participating in Summer Reading Programs is a great way to keep your kids interested in reading and learning, and they can earn free books and other fun stuff too!

Barnes & Noble - for kids in Grades 1 thru 6, you can earn a free book after reading 8 and some locations also have a regularly scheduled story time (check find an event for your store).

Pottery Barns Book Club - not just a Summer program, this regularly scheduled storytime goes on all year long on Tuesday at 10am. And your kids get a coupon ($10 off a purchase - thanks for the update T.Scott!) after attending 5 sessions and getting their booklet stamped.

Feed Your Brain - Money Saving Methods gives you the details of this reading program from Half-Price Books and CiCi's Pizza where your kids can make money on reading!

For my Texas readers:

HEBuddy Reading Club - read 10 books and earn a free t-shirt.

Harris County Library Summer Reading Club - earn a certificate for reading 10 books

Of course check your own local library for their Summer Reading programs. Happy reading!

For the pottery barn book club, they give you a booklet to get stamped each time you come. After 5 stamps you get $10 off in the store. It doesn't have to be used on books, but I always made my kids use their coupon for books anyways. :) You can not combine booklets for a larger $ off. Ex: I saw someone try to use 5 together and get free curtains. Doesn't work like that. However, each child gets their own booklet. So about every month, each of my kids would get to pick out a book or two and just run seperate transactions. (Sorry that was long!)

Im not sure if you have National Amusements Theatres in your area, but they also offer a summer reading program called Bookworm Wed. After your child reads one book & fills out a simple book report they get to watch a selected movie free. They actually offer a couple events for family's & children. Check it out at Nationalamusements.com.
